The <a href=\"http:\/\/planetary.org\/rrgtm\/mer-rovers.html\">features<\/a> of the MER are <a href=\"http:\/\/planetary.org\/rrgtm\/mer-sojourner-compare.html\">significantly improved<\/a> over the very successful <a href=\"http:\/\/mars.jpl.nasa.gov\/MPF\/index1.html\">Sojourner<\/a> rover from the 1997 <a href=\"http:\/\/mars.jpl.nasa.gov\/MPF\/index1.html\">Mars Pathfinder<\/a> mission.
