First Sputnik I Sighting
A plaque was recently intalled on Dexter Stegemeyer’s outhouse in Fairbanks, Alaska recognizing Dexter as the first person in the Western Hemisphere to sight Sputnik I as he used the facility on the morning of Oct. 6, 1957.
