Recontacting NEAR

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory is planning to attempt making contact with the NEAR Shoemaker spacecraft later this year. The spacecraft landed on asteroid 433 Eros on February 12, 2001 after orbiting the asteroid for a year and returned some spectacular images.
