Supercomputing Leapfrog

IBM announced today that they’ve been awarded a contract to build the world’s fastest supercomputers for for the U.S. Department of Energy. The two systems, ASCI Purple and Blue Gene/L, together will have more computing power than all 500 of the systems on the current TOP500 List of supercomputers.
