Teacher in Space

NASA has
announced that Barbara Morgan has been selected for the first flight of a new Educator Astronaut program aboard shuttle mission STS-118 to the International Space Station in November of 2003. Morgan was selected in 1985 as the backup for Christa McAuliffe who died in the Challenger accident. If you’ve ever watched NASA TV during recent shuttle missions, you’ve probably seen Barbara acting as a spacecraft communicator, or CAPCOM, in Mission Control.
