Sony’s QRIO Robot

Building on their AIBO techology, SONY decided to create a ‘partner’ that talks to you and plays with you: the QRIO robot walks on two legs, recovers from falls, dances, recognizes people’s faces and voices, and talks.

UPDATE: New movies showing the QRIO running, throwing a ball and dancing in unison.

I read from a site that it can “fetch as much as a BMW” if released to regular consumers. They said it’s more of a corporate toy. I think bill gates will have an army of them though.

The humonoid robot is similar to qrio but not really as human like (in my oppinion). If u take a look the price it is 48000. I WAS LIKE OMG….THAT SUCKS

  14. olivia on January 7th, 2005 11:01 am

i think that robot is soooo cool but how much really is the price i mean it can’t actually be 48000 can it?

I actually work for a branch of Sony in Miami Florida. This robot would cost $45,999 dollars if sold to the general public. There are plans to release a future version of this robot without all the bells and whistles of the original. The future version will not feature the cutting edge technology of the Qrio® that you see movies of now. The future version will retail for an estimated $9,999. There is no set release date for either Qrio® model, so don’t hold your breat, it could be awhile.

why wouldnt the retali version have the full technology? that sucks…
