I recently rediscoved FOUND Magazine. I especially like the notes and the find of the week.

Delta Gets It
Jon Udell describes the new Delta flight information system – it’s something that I always thought should be available, and I’m glad to see it finally happening. Hopefully, this is a trend that will continue.
Another small, less sophisticated, example I ran across is the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles. A recent visit to their new Benson Boulevard location was made very efficient by their new “take a number, then sit down and watch an Alaska nature film” approach (as opposed to the old “stand in the never-moving line” system previously used), with the TV monitors showing the customer number now being served. Of course, my visit would have been even more efficient had I known about the DMV Office Web Cams before I left the office!

A huge eruption on Jupitor’s moon Io was recorded by the Keck Observatory in February 2001, but the images were only recently analysed.

Spaces
Diego Doval’s Spaces email/PIM application looks interesting, even if it is just an alpha version. This should be fun to watch as it develops.

More Earthquake Photos
Since I’m getting lots of visitors searching for photos of the effects of the November 3rd magnitude 7.9 earthquake I thought I’d post a few more links as I find them. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys (that’s a mouthful!) has a nice overview, but my favorite one so far is the photo of the spruce tree split down the middle that appeared in Sunday’s paper. Other photos of the damage can be found at the Alaska Department of Transportation and
Shannon & Wilson.

Debunking the Conspiracy Theorists
Moon Base Clavius is the most thorough effort I’ve found to attempt to debunk the conspiracy theorists who believe that the Apollo moon landings never occurred.
