TiVo Home Media Option
Well, TiVo announced their new features yesterday which they’re calling the Home Media Option. I had heard that it would include playing MP3 files and viewing digital photos, and that it might include browser-based remote programming (which it does), but the biggest surprise was the ability to share recorded programs between TiVo’s. Of course, they want you to have a service subscription for each of the TiVo’s, plus there’s a one-time upgrade fee ($99) to get the Home Media Option. I just wish that the TiVo was a little quieter. Not that it’s that loud, but I find it difficult to sleep with any device in the room that includes a hard disk drive spinning all the time. I may have to find a way to hide the TiVo in the bedroom closet…

Investigating this also led me back to the Netscape DevEdge site that I had not visited in a long time (there’s LOTS of good stuff there).

Researchers Sergei Kopeikin and Ed Fomalont of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory have accurately measured the speed of gravity for the first time. Newton thought gravity’s force worked instantaneously. Einstein thought it took effect at light speed (it appears Albert was right).
