Suchland Islands
While searching for something totally unrelated, I ran across a reference to the Suchland Islands – A group of about 8 small islands lying just inside the central part of the mouth of Cranton Bay. Mapped by USGS from surveys and USN air photos, 1960-66. Named by US-ACAN for Everett B. Suchland, Jr., USN, radioman at Byrd Station, 1967.

The Connection Machine
I’ve always been interested in novel computer designs, and the Connection Machine CM-1 and CM-2 were among the most interesting from the 1980’s, and their designer Danny Hillis is just as interesting (look at how many times Wired has written about him).
